Exec Vice Pres Reports
The COPE Committee has been working on numerous legislative issues. We are faced with pending legislation that could adversely affect our members. The Committee has been working very hard with State Senators, and Representatives to protect our work and keep our work. We have been attending all hearings and legislative session to make sure our voices are heard. We will keep you informed in case we need to mobilize the membership. SWAT teams are meeting monthly with NSTAR as required by the Contractor Agreement. We still have some outstanding contractor grievances that we are trying to work through. The SWAT team members are doing a great job holding the managers not only to the terms of the Contractor Agreement, but they are actually getting work back from the contractors. Even still, we need to be vigilant with our oversight of Contractors and enforcing the Contractor Agreement. If you see a contractor working in your areas contact your Chief Steward to make sure they are working only where they should be and not performing unauthorized work. I would like to congratulate the National Grid Bargaining Committee, the members, and all of the representatives who were instrumental in securing a great contract for all of the UWUA members who work at National Grid. I would just like to wish everyone a happy and safe summer. »
