May 14 Negotiations Update

The Company and the Union continued talks late into the evening on Tuesday, May 13. Significant differences separate both sides, but undeniable progress has been made.

The Company and the Union have yet to reach agreement on core issues, such as wages, health care, retirement security, meaningful grievance and arbitration language and limitations on the use of contractors. The Union and the Company had a lengthy discussion about access authorization for discharged employees reinstated through arbitration. The Union has repeatedly made the point to the Company that access authorization is a vital concern not only in promoting a decent working relationship between the parties, but also in making the arbitration process effective.

May 12 Bargaining Update

Today we met with the Chief of Staff for the Governor of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, David Rubin. During that meeting, we briefed Mr. Rubin on the current state of negotiations, and Entergy's continuing demand for concessions, and our belief that the facility can not be run safely without our highly trained members on the job.

We then met with Suzanne Bump Secretary of Labor and Workforce Development, Director of the Department of Labor George Noel, the Under Secretary for the Division of Energy and representatives from the Dept. of Public Safety, again outlining where we stood at the bargaining table and explained in even greater detail our concern for the safe operation of our nuclear plant.

Our fair and reasonable approach at the bargaining table and the unanimous support of our members made explaining our position simple and credible. We seek a fair wage for a fair days work and good health care at reasonable costs for our families. The work we perform on a daily basis demands a lot, and our current wages are out of touch with that demand. The safe operation of Pilgrim is our number one concern, and staffing levels do not meet our needs.

We are all very optimist that our state officials will review Entergy and its contingency plan very closely, and take whatever steps are necessary and prudent to protect our communities and our families.

During bargaining today Entergy revised its health care proposal.

Tomorrow we meet again with Entergy and plan on a more detailed explanation of what they have proposed. Entergy also increased its proposed GWI to 3% for each year of a four-year contract.

May 11 Update

We met with the company’s bargaining committee till 7 PM today. The company presented modified proposals concerning Work Day and Work Week, Past Practices, Amendments, Duration of Agreement. The Local presented modifications to Leader Job Specs, Management Rights, Holidays, Union Activities, and Tuition Reimbursement.

Late in the day, the company withdrew proposals covering Union Activities, Work by Supervisors, Outage Assignments and ADDENDUM B - Twelve Hour Shift Schedule requesting to retain the current language of the CBA.

Additional, the company stated that it was modifying its proposed health care plan, dropping all ATENA products and replacing them with “revised” BCBS products, we are cautiously optimistic about this change in position. The company stated it would be presenting the plan information and supporting data Monday. Your committee requested data that identified differences between current plans and company described “revised” BCBS products. We hope to have that information available to you tomorrow evening.

May 10 Update

Today it appeared the company realized the end is nearer than the beginning, and has withdrawn a series of proposals it has identified as no longer significant. Among these withdrawn proposals were:

·Addendum A

·Appendix C

·Article 36 (Shared Services)

·Article 37 (Other Assignments and Committees)

In withdrawing these proposed modifications, the Company seeks instead to keep the current collective bargaining agreement language intact. In addition the Company also proposed modifications to Article 5 (Management Rights) Article 14 (Vacation and Vacation Compensation), Article 30 (Training, Testing and Tuition Reimbursement) and Article 39 (Assignment of Work).
