Report from the Field

I would like to begin by congratulating or brothers and sisters at National Grid on their new CBA. Welcome to Local 369!

Boston Generating Mystic 7 The merger between Boston Generating, Astoria Generating Company Holdings, LLC. and EBG Holdings, LLC. has been approved by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. The Local has been in talks with Local 1-2 out of New York who represents Astoria Workers and plans to meet to discuss several issues. We have had several arbitrations recently and will let you know once we receive the awards. Thanks to plant leadership and members for all their diligence!

Boston Generating 8 & 9 – Fore River We are finalizing the paperwork for the payment to our members on our recent victory in the Call In Premium Arbitration. The company has unilaterally changed our overtime practices as a result of the Call In Premium Arbitration and it looks like we will be headed to arbitration on this issue if the company doesn’t change it’s position.

Exelon The company has notified the Local that they have filed for de-activation with New England ISO and that they expect to have an answer within 90 days. We will keep you updated on this as well as what will happen if they do de-activate (Effects bargaining, severance etc.)

Entergy There was a meeting June 7th with Ann Sills and Marty McCabe and they explored gender issues in the workplace and discussed new contract ideas.

NSTAR On Friday April 20th, I attended the Peter Brennan Benefit at Florian Hall. There was a great turnout and a good time was had by all. There is also the 1st Annual Peter Brennan Memorial Golf Tournament on June 13th at the Brook Meadow Country Club in Canton. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Brennan Family.

On May 11th I attended a ceremony at the Waltham Service Center for12 Bunker Hill students for completing their associates program in the Electric Power Utility Technology Program. They are officially being hired by NSTAR on June 4th, and we welcome them to the Local. There are currently 11 students in their first year of the program and the company is presently in the selection process for the fall class.

I would like to thank Mike Mills for all his work in this program as well as everything else he does in training for the good of the Local.

NSTAR has notified the Local that they are continuing with GPS installations on station (O&M) vehicles – approximately 140. We have requested Effects Bargaining on GPS because it is being used differently than they initially told us. We are also awaiting answers from the company on several information requests on how and why GPS is being utilized. We will keep you updated on this as information becomes available.

I hope that all of you and your families have a safe and fun summer!
