President's Perspective - Fall 2008
The Presidential election is upon us. The local has done its best to introduce you to the candidates as openly as possible. This issue of the Live Wire gives you a closer look at the candidates and their positions on the issues. All I can do is ask you to look at the issuesthat affect you and your family the most. I cannot and I will not tell anyone how to vote or who to vote for, but I will tell how I am going to vote and why.

Business Agents' Report - Ed Lynch

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the members of District 3 for all of their support. I have been a member of Local 369 for 26 years. I have held various positions in Local 369 and Local 387. I have worked hard to strengthen my negotiations and communication skills while holding these positions and use these skills to provide the members I represent in District 3 with the best representation as Business Agent. I look forward to representing members in District 3 and promise to do all that is in my power to protect, support, and effectively represent all Local 369 members.

SWAT

Contractors continue to be an ongoing issue at the local, but I would like to point out we have the fewest contractors on the system than we have had in years. I would like to commend the SWAT teams on sticking with the process although painful at times, it works if the company follows the agreement.

With the fall season at our doorsteps, I would like to remind you of a few issues that you should keep an eye out for. Every year, at this time, most Local 369 represented companies have their open enrollment period. This is the time that you must elect to do the following: change your medical plans if you choose to do so, enroll in the flexible spending accounts, or opt out of the health care plans, if you desire.

Business Agents' Report - Bob Senier
I would like to begin by thanking the membership for their support in the recent elections. I will provide the membership with strong representation and dedication throughout my next term as Business Agent. I look forward to taking on the challenges we face over the next 3 years. We will begin preparation for Mirant and NStar contract negotiations in the coming months and as we have seen in the past we must be prepared. Our experience over the past several years has enabled us to be better prepared and get good contracts as we have recently seen with the contract negotiations at Distrigas and Entergy.
