May 12 Bargaining Update

Today we met with the Chief of Staff for the Governor of the

Commonwealth
of

Massachusetts
, David Rubin.  During that meeting, we briefed Mr. Rubin on the current state of negotiations, and Entergy's continuing demand for concessions, and our belief that the facility can not be run safely without our highly trained members on the job.

We then met with Suzanne Bump Secretary of Labor and Workforce Development, Director of the Department of Labor George Noel, the Under Secretary for the Division of Energy and representatives from the Dept. of Public Safety, again outlining where we stood at the bargaining table and explained in even greater detail our concern for the safe operation of our nuclear plant.

Our fair and reasonable approach at the bargaining table and the unanimous support of our members made explaining our position simple and credible. We seek a fair wage for a fair days work and good health care at reasonable costs for our families. The work we perform on a daily basis demands a lot, and our current wages are out of touch with that demand.  The safe operation of Pilgrim is our number one concern, and staffing levels do not meet our needs.

We are all very optimist that our state officials will review Entergy and its contingency plan very closely, and take whatever steps are necessary and prudent to protect our communities and our families.

During bargaining today Entergy revised its health care proposal.

Tomorrow we meet again with Entergy and plan on a more detailed explanation of what they have proposed.  Entergy also increased its proposed GWI to 3% for each year of a four-year contract.
